Requested Action
Staff recommends that the City Council consider and approve the quote for $2,395 attached for painting of the
Outdoor Theatre located in Civic Center Park.
Background
As included as part of the recent grant process, it was identified that the Outdoor Theatre located in Civic
Center Park is in need of paint. Staff found that the bottom row of brick in the back of the building had
deteriorated and was in need of patching which was done earlier this summer. The solution to the brick
deterioration is a new coat of paint and more frequent painting.
Staff sought quotes to power wash all brick and wood surfaces on the building, scrape all loose paint and
caulk, and paint /stain all surfaces with two coats. Quotes were received from four companies as follows

The low quote was submitted by Paul C. Hokr Painting Inc. at $2,395.00. The city has hired this company in
the past for similar projects and it has a good track record.
Funding
Funding is available in the Park Infrastructure Fund which is levy funded each year. The fund was
established in 2001 by City Council action.

Resolution authorizing the purchase and appropriation of funds of $2,395 for painting of the
Outdoor Theatre by Paul C. Hokr Painting Inc.
WHEREAS, the city of New Hope prepares a five year Capital improvement Program (CIP) as
a guiding document for equipment acquisition and improvement projects to assist
with the preparation of each annual operating budget; and
WHEREAS, the CIP is not formally adopted as a budget document, nor does it authorize the
acquisition of the individual equipment and /or projects listed therein; and
WHEREAS, the funds for this work are available within the Park Infrastructure Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the city of New Hope, Minnesota
that the appropriation of $2,395 from the Park Infrastructure Fund for payment to
Paul C. Hokr Painting Inc. is authorized.
Adopted by the City Council of the city of New Hope, Hennepin County, Minnesota, this 23rd
day of August, 2010.
