CALL TO ORDER Co-Chair Kendra Curry called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.

AGENDA APPROVAL Commissioner Isenberg made a motion to accept the March 6, 2023,
agenda, seconded by Commissioner Ruiz. All voted in favor.
MINUTES APPROVAL Commissioner Ruiz made a motion to accept the February 6, 2023,
minutes, seconded by Commissioner Leon. All voted in favor.
OPEN FORUM Introduction
- Officer Tony Gust is attending the meeting as the City Liaison.
City Manager Position
- Co-Chair Curry wanted to recognize the City Council for the
discussion and updating the qualifications to the City Manager
position in order to widen the candidate pool.
Broadway Village
- Commissioner Leon said the Soul Food dinner had a great turnout,
wonderful food and was a good way for residents to socialize.
Additional events will be planned for the future.
Black History Event
- Community Member Mustapha reported that the event was a huge
success and it has out grown the Fair School. A larger venue will be
needed next year.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
AND REPORTS HRC Membership
- Commission is full at this time.
- Community members are always welcome to attend meetings.
HRC By-Laws
- Secretary Rehnke has submitted the edited By-Laws to the city.
- City Council needs to approve the edits.
2023 Subcommittee Updates
- Community Conversations – Lead Donna Meyer
- June 20th – Lions Park – Juneteenth focus
- July 12th – Civic Park – 2022 question/format focus
- August 29th – Liberty Park – World Festival Event focus
- Sunnyside Park Sponsorship – Lead Trista Rehnke
- Must clean the park 3 times per year.
- Saturday, May 20th at 10:00 am. Meet at the north end of
the park by the playground equipment.
- Outreach – Lead Matthew London
- Group will start making posts that align with the Diversity
calendar, that highlight businesses and/or people. Target
will be 2 – 3 posts per month.
- Colors of the World – Lead Mindy London
- Looking for documentation regarding the prior years process
to replicate. Commissioner Curry will work to locate/create.
- Hispanic Heritage Celebration – Lead Diane Ruiz
- Planning in 2023, Event in 2024
Fundraising – Lead Kaamil Hassen
- Reached out to individuals to inquire about corporate
donations.
- Need to find out from city officials how any donations
received are handled and then how funds are distributed or
how the funds can be spent.
- Iftar dinner with Crystal JCPP (volunteering only)
- March 28th, Crystal Community Center, 6:00 – 8:00 pm
- RSVP if you plan to attend and/or volunteer to help
City Council Work Session
- March 20th at 6:30 pm
- Powerpoint that recapped accomplishments in 2022 and focus for
2023 was reviewed.
2023 Meeting Dates:
- 2023: 3/6, 4/3, 5/1, 6/5, 8/7, 9/5, 10/2, 11/6, 12/4; No July meeting
- September meeting date discussed due to Labor Day holiday. First
choice is Wed, 9/6, second choice Thurs 9/7.

COMMUNICATION &
INFORMATION SHARING Empty Bowls Fundraiser
- March 7th, Cooper High School, 5:00 – 7:30 pm
- Donations are also accepted via the Empty Bowls website.
- Donations go the local food shelves.
NEXT MEETING The next meeting is Monday, April 3, 2023 at 7:00 pm.
ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Hassan made a motion to adjourn the meeting; seconded
by Commissioner Isenberg. All voted in favor. The meeting was
adjourned at 7:48 pm.
