CALL TO ORDER Chair Meyer called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.

AGENDA APPROVAL Commissioner Saima made a motion to accept the May 2, 2022, agenda,
seconded by Commissioner London. All voted in favor.
MINUTES APPROVAL Commissioner Saima made a motion to accept the April 4, 2022,
minutes, seconded by Commissioner London. All voted in favor.
OPEN FORUM Minneapolis Police Department Human Rights Violations
- Chief Hoyt will send article on the next steps.
Virtual Meeting Status
- HRC can hold virtual meetings or have people attend virtually
because the commission is all volunteers.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
AND REPORTS 2022 Sub-Committees
- Expectations
o Sub-committees are expected to meet throughout the month,
outside of the regular HRC meeting. The Lead will report
back at the HRC meeting
- Colors of the World / Dream Big (Donna Meyer – Lead)
o Team hasn’t met yet. No update.
- Community Conversations (Donna Meyer – Lead)
o Event was April 24th at Emerald Point Apartments.
o Working to set up another event for May.
o Events scheduled for Civic Center Park on June 13 (Mon),
July 12 (Tues) and August 9 (Tues). All will be 5:00 – 9:00
pm in the pavilion area. The police department will attend
and provide BBQ.
- Cultural Music & Food Fair / Food Trucks (Kendra Curry – Lead)
o Need to pause this subcommittee due to limited HRC
members right now and lack of diversity on the HRC.
- Sunnyside Park & Volunteer Coordination (Trista Rehnke – Lead)
o Park clean up #1 – Saturday, May 21st at 10:00 am.
o Partner with Holy Nativity Church at Sunnyside Park.
Partner with the Boy Scouts at Victory Park.
- Marketing (Allison Isenberg – Lead)
o Team is working to connect and set up contacts within the
city, CCX, Sun Post. Will promote and document HRC
events throughout the year.
o Proclamation for Juneteenth has been submitted to the city.
o Working on the HRC Spotlight of the Quarter. Chief Hoyt will
connect with Beth Kramer and will follow up with
Commissioner Isenberg.
o Working on t-shirts for the HRC. HRC members would pay
for them individually. Details will be sent soon.
o July 8th is the Crime Prevention Golf Tournament
(fundraiser), starts at 12:30 pm. Volunteers needed, connect
with Brad Kallio.
2022 Meeting Dates:
- 6/6, no July mtg, 8/1, 9/6 (Tues), 10/3, 11/7, 12/5
HRC Membership
- Two open Commissioner positions.
NEW BUSINESS City of New Hope DEI Policy
- Last month we learned that the city does not have a formal DEI
policy. Chair Meyer was able to obtain policies from other cities and
has forwarded those examples to the HR department.
