Now that spring is here, please
remember that the city of New Hope
has a few simple guidelines to help
ensure that residential neighbor-
hoods are attractive, well-main-
tained, and free of clutter:
❖ Garbage cans and recycling
containers must be stored inside (or
screened from view) except for the
evening preceding and the day of
garbage pickup.
❖ Outside storage of materials and
equipment is not permitted.
Items should be stored within a
building or fully screened so they are
not visible from adjoining properties.
❖ Vehicles must be parked on a hard
surface consisting of concrete, as-
phalt or crushed rock. Vehicles must
be currently licensed and operable.
❖ Commercial vehicles or equip-
ment may not be stored in residential
parking areas.

2020 U.S. Census
The U.S. Constitution mandates
that the country conduct a count of
its population once every 10 years.
The U.S. Census Bureau has begun
counting every person in the 50
states, District of Columbia, and five
U.S. territories for the 2020 Census.
The census provides critical data that
lawmakers, business owners, teach-
ers, and others use to provide daily
services, products, and support for
residents and communities. Every
year, billions of dollars in federal
funding go to hospitals, fire depart-
ments, schools, roads, and other
resources based on census data.
The results of the census also deter-
mine the number of seats each state
will have in the U.S. House of Repre-
sentatives, and they are used to draw
congressional and state legislative
districts.
In March, invitations to participate
in the 2020 Census will begin arriv-
ing in households across the city. On
April 1, Census Day will be celebrat-
ed with events across the country.
Residents should count anyone living
in their home on April 1 when com-
pleting the questionnaire.
If a resident does not respond by the
end of April, U.S. Census Bureau
staff will begin attempts to reach
individuals by going door-to-door
through August of 2020.
